“Sometimes, what you’re looking for is already there.” Aretha Franklin
I don’t know if I was looking, but have certainly come across items that I’d forgotten owning while we prepare for the big move ahead.
This week I dragged David to the movies to see “Crazy Rich Asians,” a funny and lighthearted romantic comedy; nice girl – filthy rich boyfriend unknown to the nice girl and a mean and evil, rich boyfriend mother. If you are asking yourself you went to see what……..let me regress. I browse the book section of the Sunday NY Times, so every time there’s a book that appears interesting, it’s added to my Kindle list. A few years ago this book caught my attention. Fast forward to our week in Puerto Vallarta and it’s now the perfect beach book. Halfway through our week, I had purchased the second book and by the time we got back to Ajijic I was downloading the third book…….yes it’s a trilogy, and can’t wait to see the movie sequels.
Got the Mexico moving estimate and mi corazón se paro (my heart stopped). Really need to be more critical as to what we bring with us, to embrace KonMari’s famous de-cluttering principle and ask truly – “Does this item brings me JOY? I guess the only thing going to Mexico with me is David………😂
On Saturday my nephew, the newlywed, and his lovely wife came down to help me clean out my storage room. We were very successful. Not only did we thoroughly empty appliance and computer boxes, but we repositioned all the shelves to make them more efficient. Now I can stage items that we want to bring down but that do not need to go with the movers. They can be brought down on subsequent trips or with our beloved “mules.”
The garage and house are a mess that I want to run away from, but slowly David and I will get all done. This week we got rid of old paperwork and started working on the music collection we’ve amassed over the decades.
We also had overnight guests from my extended family from Seattle that gave us a needed break.
Saturday night dinner at a fave restaurant, San Pedro’s Raffaello’s, felt like a homecoming. They asked us where we’d been all this time. We told them Mexico and that we were moving………they were sad and had us promise that when we return for a visit, we must come and dine with them.
