I can’t believe I’m writing this sitting in the front patio our charming Ajijic rental the house exceeded its web pictures.

The birds singing drowns the carretera traffic we are about 3 houses away from the main town road.

Leaving Los Angeles with 6 pieces of luggage, 2 backpacks, and a tote bag, I thought that we were extremely overloaded needless to say by one of our new friends they were surprised with got away with such little luggage……I guess the only explanation for our lightness was no hair products.

Our flight to Guadalajara was uneventful, except that we drained all the champagne from Alaska business class consuming Mimosas later to find out they are only given one bottle for such a short flight.

Our friend Cheryl was outside customs to greet us with Manuel, who managed to load all the suitcases into his midsize SUV.

Arrived at casa Cheryl’s unpacked and quickly went to lunch at a cafe art gallery combination………good food and interesting exhibit of shadow boxes.

We did a drive to check out the house and neighborhood the owner Hugh was outside the gate by chance we introduced ourselves he invited us in to tour the house met his wife Claire and found them both to be as charming as their home.

Back to the house to rest and later dinner at Chapala lakeside, for seafood. the street scene as we walked to our car was reminiscent of American graffiti teens hanging in groups around cars and playing all types of very loud music.

We also stopped at a wine shop….limited selection but we will not go thirsty.

Sunday a quick trip to Walmart to procure a few brunch items which I cooked. The rest of the day was spent lounging around, catching up, dinner was a selection of munchies and of course more wine.

Monday we made a trip to Chapala to a large Mexican supermarket chain with a larger selection than Walmart, so I guess that will be our go-to store.

Back to Ajijic, for lunch at a great pizza place, then to pick up the keys for the house, transfers all the luggage from casa Cheryl to casa Cobblestone which has been renamed Casa Colibri (hummingbird during our stay)

Out to dinner to celebrate……….by now you have caught on that all you do here is eat out, it’s beyond reasonable it’s cheap, and so far all the places visited will be placed on rotation.

Today, we will be staying home unpacking and getting familiar with our new surroundings.

Tomorrow schedule will be busy, sit and fit class, Wednesday market and fish tacos for lunch.

Charming town.
