“I believe gelato is meant to be treated as medicine and taken daily as a prescription.” Betsy Brandt

After a week fighting a stomach bug with over-the-counter medications, I decided to experience the Mexican Health Care System….so I marched myself to the local 24/7 private emergency clinic. Was received with a smile by the receptionist, asked to fill out a short form (in English), and waited about half an hour to see the doctor. In the meantime I engaged in conversations with other patients, asking them questions about the clinic and overall experience with medical care in the area. I received very satisfied positive responses.
I met with Dr. Rodriguez, who proceeded to question and examine me and take all my vitals. His conclusion – I had a bout of food poisoning (salmonella) – not a pleasant experience, but I was going to live. He prescribed two medications for the next six days and within 24 hours was on my way back to normal. The drugs were probably not FDA approved, but they were working and as a result, I now have a full head of hair…….😂
So you might wonder where was David during this whole ordeal. He was at Sit ‘n Fit, chair aerobics since it was basically next door. We met up at the Farmacia nearby soon after his class ended and I’d been discharged.
David and I have a code regarding getting rid of insects/bugs in the house, so when I hear, “Kitty, Kitty …” I walk towards the voice to either: kill or pick up the dead bug. This week I heard, “this is not a Kitty, Kitty…” as I walked over and saw a baby scorpion. He asked me what was I going to do and well the only thing that came to mind was picking up my size 12 sandal and smash it till it became a fossil blended into the floor tile.
After almost 3 months of twice-a-week gentle yoga classes, we decided to take Ana’s beginner’s Hatha, which was actually a level one class. Great class ~ she had us work and stretch muscles we didn’t know we had. The Drishti Studio is celebrating its 5th anniversary, so it was running 30% off specials of their monthly, tri-monthly, bi-annual, and yearly unlimited yoga class sessions. We are so committed to continuing with our practice that we purchased the yearly unlimited passes………the average calculated cost per class is well under $3!
As we begin our last week here in Ajijic, we have a flurry of Bon Voyage – until you come back dinners with our new Lakeside friends before returning NOB.
