“When you are grateful – when you can see what you have – you unlock blessings to flow in your life.” Suze Orman, motivational speaker
After a GREAT week in the Maya Riviera, Pobrecitos, poor us, time to return back home to our permanent vacation; as folks have so aptly described our blessed lives. At the airport it was surprising to see the amounts of charter flights listed on the departure boards: Birmingham, Manchester, Gatwick – all UK destinations, plus flights to Milan, Frankfurt and Paris. Cancun is certainly an international hub of sun & fun seekers.
Upon approach to Guadalajara, we flew into a lightning storm. David, seated by the window, quickly pulled his shade down to avoid witnessing the flashes. The lightning pulses reflecting through the unclosed windows reminded me of an episode of the Twilight Zone. I hadn’t experienced anything like it in all my years of flying.
Safely on the ground, we drove slowly home in a blinding rainstorm. I got drenched just by helping the car park valet load our bags into the car (have you ever asked yourself why do dirty clothes weigh so much?!). Vehicles here drive with their emergency flashers on to tell others that they’re proceeding with caution. Interesting to see since it was our first rainstorm to drive through.
Back in the saddle and while riding through cornfields, I started reflecting on the past week and life in general with all its gifts and blessings; this tune from The Sound of Music kept repeating in my mind:
Nothing comes from nothing
Nothing ever could
So somewhere in my youth
Or childhood
I must have done something
Something good
In a few days we are off to Southern California and Sir Elton John!
On the Menu … Dinner at our favorite place: seafood soup (a starter every visit) and chicken for me and pork ribs for David enveloped in a rich mole poblano. Talking with Gloria the Chef, and kidding that her 33 ingredients mole were missing a few and telling her about our mole purchase in Oaxaca, she mentioned that her mole was also for sale, so we came home with half a liter of delicious black gold.
